Sapphire Jewellery

Sapphires are valuable gemstones, a variety of corundum, characterised by their intense blue colour. Sapphires are some of the hardest gemstones, with a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamonds. They are considered alongside diamonds, rubies and emeralds as one of the four classic gemstones.

To care for sapphire jewellery, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and contact with harsh chemicals. Clean sapphire jewellery using lukewarm water and mild soap, then rinse and dry gently using a soft cloth.

Although the classic colour associated with sapphires is blue, they can also come in other colours such as pink, yellow, orange, green and even white. These variegated colored sapphires are known as "fancy sapphires" and can be valuable depending on their rarity.
